Adventures in Mom sitting

Yes folks, you read that right, mom sitting.

Some background info....

My mom is not well, she's on oxygen, she falls a lot, and well, she doesn't feel like she should be home alone for long periods of time.

My dad, sister and her husband are out of town at a car show, and I get to spend the weekend with my mom, and my dog, Licorice.

It was pretty much a cake walk,  just cleaning, playing tug of war with Lick, doing laundry, stuff like that.

One thing that did freak me out was early Saturday Morning, the heater in the house   turned on for some strange reason.  The smell of burning dust awoke me from my sleep.  I as already nervous about something happening when that happened.  I turned off the heater, made sure mom was okay, and tried to go back to sleep.

It was nice to be with my mom, and to be at my parent's house again.  I could do whatever I want really.  Something that caused the hubby and I to fight, but that's another time really.

On a different note, I lost 7 pounds in the last two weeks.  My cousin, the personal trainer, hooked me up with a great app, and I've cut my calories down to about 1400.  Only time will tell if this works, but stepping on the scale, I feel damn good right now.

Yes, I know I'm about a year late to the party, but this is a good f-you song!

Enjoy

Unemployment sucks

There's no way around it really.

I'm among the masses who do not have work.  I chose this path however.

The spa I was working at are a bunch of turds.  They decided to knock down two buildings, and build new ones, without permits. So, me being bottom of the totem pole was relegated to nothing...joy. After much consideration, and discussions, I quit. there.  It was also killing my back.

So, moving to the clerical field is proving to be a challenge.  I signed up with a temp agency, which has done nothing for me.  I've been applying to any and every job I am qualified for except for retail, and massage.  I have a feeling I might have to apply for those soon if nothing pans out.

I've had phone interviews and promises made, but nothing really materializes.  I get so frustrated.  Hubby's job is now permanent, and he's got a raise, and he got his car situation fixed.

I swear I neglect you guys.  Sorry about that.  Nothing else really all that exciting going on. I've started to play a very addicting game on Facebook called Ghosts of Mistwood. I'm on level 23 of 29, so maybe once I finish it, I'll start writing again :)

That's it for me, unless you want to hear emotional rants about how much I miss Orange County and Disneyland...

I've been a bad blonde.....

Neglecting the blog for over a month?! Shame on me!!!

Well, there really hasn't been much to blog about. It's hotter than Hades this time of year, which makes running outside nearly impossible, and the gym has been a four letter word to me.

Actually, work is really the four letter word.  Since it is hot out, most people don't want to come out and fast. (Gee, I wonder why?) So work is slow to put it nicely. I'm starting to look elsewhere, and maybe look into yet ANOTHER career change. This one is actually up my alley!!

My wonderful cousin is taking classes to become a Personal Trainer. So, what does that have to do with me?  She told me about NASM, and their programs, which include a  corrective exercise specialist class, and Athletic Trainer.....only the things I have been wanting to do since I was a kid.

I am thrilled. I started with a trial of the CES class, and I am loving it.  It's like my massage training, but more intense.  I am really excited for it!!

The only downside is that after the week, the class is nearly $700. I think I might have to start a donation site, or something to get the money for it....

Other than that, things are okay.  Family's good, hubby's awesome, and been trying to write again. Yes, I'm writing the great novel; or that's what I call it.

Well, gotta do laundry, so until next time..

I think the universe is trying to tell me something....

I've been doing massage for six years. I love it.  I feel like I help people when I can get those tense muscles to relax, and when I have people tell me that their massage was amazing etc. I give of myself in a lot of my treatments, and it can be taxing on me.

It seems lately like the physical toll is catching up with me. I'm always tired, grumpy, and have way more anxiety attacks, nightmares, and fights with my husband.

I might have stated before about my husband's dislike of my career choice, and for the most part, and as much as I hate to say it, he's right. I hate being an independent contractor, it's not that steady, and most of the people I work for are flighty, and rude.

So, I think it's time soon for me to change careers.  I have no idea what I want to do next. Well, actually, I have some ideas.  Teaching Massage, or working in Spa Management would be cool.  Maybe I should jump fields entirely, and get into something like event planning, or working more of an office job.

I did some volunteer work back in the day with a non-profit with their event planning, and I loved it. I was on the committee for a black tie gala, and helped run the program, down to helping in the office with paperwork and filing etc. Of course, I did this eight or nine years ago. Everyone I worked with is somewhere else, and I have no clue how to get back into that field.  This was also in Orange County, by the way.

I went thru a range of emotions just writing this post. I was at first upset, since my back is messed up, then relieved because I haven't been able to talk about this without causing a problem, and now depressed because I have no effing clue what I am going to do now.

So, there you go...I think the universe is telling me it's time to move on to something better, like being a housewife. ;)

Why I hate sports..or my dislike of the Stanley Cup Finals

Growing up, I watched a lot of ESPN. During family gatherings I would sit in my grandparent's bedroom and watch TV. I watched everything, and enjoyed it thoroughly. I would pretend I was Chick Hearn, and do play by play of recess basketball games.

As a teenager, I wasn't allowed to watch MTV, so I watched sports.  When I was in high school, I had wanted  to become a sports writer.  I also developed my love for hockey.  I started following the Anaheim (mighty)Ducks, and soon became an obsessed fan.

I lost my passion in or around 2007, when the Ducks won the Cup.  I think that was more of less due to my ex, and also because I felt like I was growing out of that phase of my life.

This year, I didn't watch many games, but I did follow online, I interact with other fans on twitter, and I do sometimes have a desire to go and see a game in person.  Two teams that I have some ties to, and also loathe are in the Finals.

Los Angeles Kings

Ah, the older, and grumpier cousin team. In forty five years, they've made the finals twice.  (We did it in less than 20)  Their fans are loud, rude and for the most part, ignorant.  There are nice King fans, and there are idiot Duck fans, but they are in the minority.  I really have no problem with this team, and I am somewhat partial to them.

New Jersey Devils

Ah, my ex-boyfriend team. The team I used to follow back in the 90's, had my heart broken in '03, but still held on.  The ex got them in the divorce, and I moved some of my allegiance to the rival Rangers, and  down to Carolina.  Much like the Kings, I have no problem with the team themselves, just those fans that ruin things for everyone else.

Who to root for?

Nobody, but it looks like LA is going to win it all. Good for them, but remember you came in second to the team created from a child's movie.
