Look Out San Diego

The Blonde is coming your way, maybe.

If you haven't already figured out, I'm working as a Massage Therapist. The American Massage Conference, a major trade show for the Massage community is going to be down in San Diego this April.  It would give me a chance to see some new vendors, learn a new technique or two, and oh yeah...go to San Diego for a day or two.

Now to only convince the husband to let me go.  I sometimes forget that being married, you have to consider what the other person thinks, and see if they want to go for the ride.  Maybe I can find the IKEA there and get my meatballs on.  (The furniture might blow, but damn do they know how to make some good food!!)

Maybe I can get my Swede on in a week or so. One of the spas I had applied to on a whim called me. I survived the phone interview while shopping with my parents at Walmart of  all places.  I have a physical interview/practical on the 28th, at the spa.

Hubby and I are doing okay. Recently was our four month anniversary. We haven't really done anything for it, nor do I expect to since his attitude recently soured again.

Think that's it for now...thanks for reading, and I'll hopefully have some good updates soon

Frustrated Incorporated

Just a random how ya doing post.

I started at the Chiropractor's office today.  I had three deep, deep tissue massages in a row.   I took the liberty to Google Image search that, for those not in the know....

Deep Tissue Work involves, elbows, thumbs, and hands.
It's pretty intense, since you use most, if not all of your body weight to relieve trigger points and sore muscles. It also KILLS the therapist, since it takes a lot of our energy to perform them properly.

Doing three in a row made me pooped.  So when the hubby comes home grumpy, I have this playing in my head...thus the title of this blog.

It's actually a catchy little song, and it was featured at the end of Clerks 2.  God love you Kevin Smith!!

PS. Sorry for the multimedia in this post. I got bored and wanted to play around. Maybe I'll add more in future posts.

Work is in the air...

Life can be so random.  I think we all know that, and it's true. I experienced this randomness first hand this last week.

I have been looking for jobs as either a massage therapist, or something clerical/customer service. I had become frustrated since most of the ads were either scams, or were very shady.  I got to the point where I was applying at Glen Ivy, and Burke Williams to maybe get an MT job in Orange County, or Los Angeles.

I saw an ad on Craigslist for an MT with a chiropractic office that wanted someone with experience. I figured "what the hey" and applied.

That morning, I went out with my mom in law and her boss out to go shopping, and spend some quality time together. On the way to meet them, I get a phone call and email from this office to set up an interview.

I was hesitant about taking the interview, since I had been burned by others, and I was sure to be disappointed by this one, but something told me to try it. So, I did.

The interview was about 5 minutes, and thankfully my mom in law understood. When I got to the office, they were interviewing another MT, but you really couldnt tell, since she was in a t-shirt and jeans.

Rant ahead...

Seriously, you're going to an interview.  I don't care what you're doing, unless it's for working at a denim facotry, you NEVER wear jeans to an interview!!  Very unprofessional. I  mean you can wear a t-shirt if it's clean, and some black pants, or kakhi's or something, but never jeans.  For the record, I wore a blue t-shirt, black scrub pants and tennis shoes, ie the massage therapist's professional outfit.

Rant over....

I heard the tail end of their questioning, and it wasn't good.

So, after the first few questions, it seemed like they wanted to hire me, since have experience, availability, and a good attitude, and I looked professional. :)  I just had to do a practical on Saturday.

Funny story about that too.  I was scheduled at 9:45 for my pratical.  I arrive at 9;30, ready to go when he tells me that the office should have called, and that he was booked, and couldn't do the practical after all, but I got the job!!!

So, I work with n2health, and also with the mobile company to do my outcall work.  I also work for myself, and do my private clients.  This better keep me busy, right?!

Still gym'n it too!  I'll sleep when I'm dead!!

Run Blonde, Run!

I've been hinting that I want to run in a half marathon, or even a full marathon. I think I'm just a glutton for punishment really.  I'm a recovering asthmatic.( I still get an occasional attack, but I haven't had a need for an inhaler in a long time) I have wonky knees.(Floating kneecaps anyone?) and I'm a smidge on the overweight side.

So I've been hitting the gym with a little bit more gusto than I have in the past. I've been spending more time on that blasted treadmill, and trying to get my mile down to under 15 minutes (this is walking mind you. I do try and run in intervals, but nothing too long) in an attempt to get into some form of shape.  I've also been swimming, and doing strength training. I've cut down on the fast food, eating healthier, and drinking less soda.(that's the hardest, really)

I'm posting this information, and all this junk because I've signed up to run in the Disneyland Half Marathon 5k.

I hope if I do well enough, and maybe continue on this fitness kick, I'll be crossing the line at the 2013 Tinkerbell Half!

Wish me luck!!

Life in a Crossroads

Until last week, I hadn't posted in a long time.  I would like to think it had to do with planning my million dollar wedding, and working on decorating my mansion.  It was really because I had forgotten about this blog.  I forgot about my Livejournal too, so don't think I posted tons of exciting updates there.

As most of you know, yes I did get married. The wedding was tiny, and it was nice that way. It was just his family, since my friends were either unable to afford going out to Vegas, or had more important things to do. (Like go fishing...Sorry, but I am still so bitter about that.)  Pictures are on my flickr, and my facebook.

So I've spent the last four months in the lower desert. I like it down here. Things are a bit closer then they were up at my parent's house.  I still see them, maybe not as much as my mom would like, but I get up there at least every two weeks.

Work, on the other hand has been a problem. I found a job right away after I moved back from OC, that was nice, since hubby was laid off in April. He found a temp job with a desert landmark back in August, and from there was when we went ahead and decided to get hitched.

So now it's February, and we're at a crossroads. Hubby's contract will be ending soon, and the job market here sucks.  Trust me, I know. I have been looking steady work since the new year.

I was working at a resort, but when the hours were thin, I applied at a major department store.  I hate retail, so you know that I had to be desperate to work it again. What started out as a part time job soon became a full time seasonal gig, and I had quit the resort.  (working 5 days out of a whole month is pathetic....)

I was promised a full time job back in December, but that fizzed out.

I have been looking for some steady work as a massage therapist.  Sadly this desert has a very short season that it's busy, and I missed most of that time.

Hubby also states constantly that he wants out of this valley.  I don't blame him, since he's never really left the desert like I attempted to. He has this idea that OC or San Diego is going to have more competitive job market, pay more, and things will be better than the desert.  It just might, but I have some serious doubts.

So our crossroads is this...Do we stay in the desert, with mediocre jobs, making mediocre money, but can still live somewhat comfortably, or do we take the plunge, and see what other areas have to offer?

I've always been down for an adventure, but in all honesty, I'm getting too old for this shit.  I just want to settle down somewhere, plant roots, and enjoy what time I have.

The fun, lighthearted me will be back soon. :)

Bucket List....Things I've done

Wanted to get all three posts out as soon as I could.

Kissed a stranger at Midnight on New Year's

I swear all the good things happen at Disneyland too.

It was my first New Year's at the mouse house, and it was also Y2K, so it was very exciting. I was working in the Candy Palace with an awesome lead, and cast.  it was 11:58 and the store was empty.  Julia, the awesome lead, let us out to watch the fireworks, and because the store was a ghost town.

At the stroke of Midnight, this guy Rodney and I kissed. It was on the lips, and it was also very taboo, since public displays of affection are a big no-no for Cast Members.  When the hoopla was over, we all walked back into the store, and worked the remainder of our shifts (2am for him, 3 am for me. the park closed at 3:30 am.)

The didn't see much of him again, and it was probably better that way. I caught his cold, and it turned into a nasty case of bronchitis.

Got married

So much fun, I did it twice!

The first marriage; I can admit now was a big mistake.  I was 25, and I was in a really bad place.  Steph and I got into a major fight, and the guy was there, and it was convenient.  I really did love him, or at least I think I did.  After the first few months back east, it was decided to move back to Cali, and that's when things really went downhill. Nearly four years and a nervous breakdown later, I filed for divorce.

John and I are a different story.  We dated for a while, and we knew each other for more than a week.  The wedding was still small, but it was beautiful, and I love him so much.

Appeared on TV

This was very recently.  I am working with a mobile massage company.  We had the contract for the Humana Challenge, and were set up at a tent doing chair massage. The Golf Channel sent a reporter to cover this event, and well, my co-worker and I were on TV.

I'm sure there are more. I just want to go out and enjoy life for a little bit...So, I'll be updating this post later.  In the mean time, think about those things you want to do before you kick the bucket....

Bucket List Part 2

It seems a lot of my Bucket List is Disneyland related.  I never realized that until now.  Yikes.  Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE that place....so for this post, I'll try to keep it Disney-free.

Rent a suite for a concert/sporting event.

I'm claustrophobic, and hate hate crowds.  I haven't been to an actual hockey game since 2008, partially due to finances, but also because I hate being in a crowded arena, sitting next to some loud a-hole spilling beer on me.

Karaoke...at the House of Blues

Downtown Disney doesn't count!!!  They used to have karaoke on certain nights in the restaurant portion and I so wanted to get up there and belt one out.  I had some ideas about songs, but I never had the backbone to do it.  Maybe another time.

Publish my stories

I've been told more than once I should write a novel.  I have been writing since I was a teenager. I was writing things from a fictionalized account of an ex boyfriend who wouldn't leave me alone, to a series Stephanie and I were working on about two Orange County girls who lead an adventurous life. I have even given thought to writing my memoirs.  Thanks to self-publishing, I probably could do it, and one day I might.  I would LOVE for one of them to be picked up by a major publisher though.

Buy a house

I want to set roots somewhere, and having a house is one of those things that means I have my own place in the sun. Somewhere that's mine, and mine only.   One day....once my credit is up to par.

Finish College

This one seems less likely every semester...but I want to go back, and get my bachelor's degree. I had changed majors twice, and I still am not 100% sure what I want it to be. I think it will be Kinesiology; the study of muscles, or Athletic Training; what I wanted to do when I was 16.

(To be Concluded)
